Tonight we are absolutely delighted to welcome Jess Green to SoapBox.

This event marks the return of the SoapBox Poetry Club after a short break for Festival season. Each edition of the club feature a nationally renowned spoken word poet headlining, two local poets, and one musician (with strong literary ties) in support.

Jess Green is a performance poet who travels around the country performing and delivering workshops. Published by Burning Eye Books, Jess is perhaps most known for her ‘Dear Mr Gove’ poem, which has now reached 300,000 views on Youtube. She has performed at Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude, Secret Garden Party as well as at poetry nights up and down the country. She also runs the poetry and rap night, Find The Right Words in Leicester.

Green worked as a librarian after leaving university and comes from a family of teachers. She has strong views on education policies in the UK, having experienced the situation first-hand. She writes sharp, concise, and hard-hitting lines, promoting awareness of the injustice in the UK’s education system.

Support will come from new spoken word performer Keith Sadler. Best known as one of Suffolk’s most beloved songwriters, he took a side-step into spoken word earlier this year and won the first ever SoapBox Poetry Competition, held at Rhyme Scene on June 8th 2016, on what was only his fourth ever gig! He is a natural storyteller and we can’t wait to see what he will do with his first full spoken word slot.

We are delighted to welcome Jayd Amber Green to this event too. Jayd is a poet living and studying in Suffolk, performing poetry that focuses on the themes of love and the pastoral countryside.

Music will be played by Norwich's very own Jasper Taylor. An incredible vocalist and songwriter who has consistently produced music of the highest calibre.

Tickets are £4 concessions, £6 in advance, or £8 on the door, if available. Advance purchase recommended. Tickets can be bought online from WeGotTickets >>> HERE <<<
